Matt is originally from Cornwall but moved to Sussex in 2006 to continue his studies. Previously, Matt held the position of resident vocal coach / lecturer for Northbrook MET and Greater Brighton Metropolitan College for 14 years, until September 2022 when he joined the team at The Brighton Academy full time. Alongside being Head of Academics and a vocal technique teacher at TBA, he Co-owns Sussed Theatre Company (teaching in schools in Sussex) & Kompact Theatre Company. Kompact formed in 2009 and he has seen many members go on to incredible things; including Helen Woolf (Wicked), Blake Patrick-Anderson (Be More Chill) and Alfie Parker (School of Rock). Kompact was created to showcase Contemporary Musical Theatre work from the U.K. and U.S. and has allowed Matt to become friends with many Broadway composers over the years including Carner & Gregor and Rob Rokicki. He hopes to develop this work further in the future and build more industry links across the pond
